Duke at Virginia Prediction: Can the Cavaliers Get Revenge?
· Yahoo Sports
If it wasn’t the best ACC Championship game, it was right up there.
Virginia wasn’t supposed to be there. The Cavaliers were the wonderful surprise of 2025. Duke wasn’t supposed to be there. It got in after everything went perfectly right.
The Blue Devils were up by ten late, Virginia roared back to force overtime, and Duke came through with a 27-20 win to take the ACC Championship.
The 2026 Blue Devils were starting to look the part, and then they lost their last two games in close battles with Georgia Tech and North Carolina. Virginia has gone 1-2 in its last three games, and if it doesn’t win this, it’s realistically out of the ACC title chase.

Why Duke Will Win
The line play has been terrific, for the most part. The Blue Devils are second in the nation in sacks allowed, and the run defense is allowing just 93 rushing yards per game.
Virginia ran well to start the season, but it’s been ultra-reliant on the passing game to keep things moving. It lost to Florida State because the ground attack was stuffed, and it lost to SMU because the offense didn’t go anywhere.
Duke wins when it runs well, and it’s second in the ACC in total defense.
Why Virginia Will Win
Can Beau Pribula be better?
The transfer from Missouri was terrific to start the season, but he hasn’t been hitting enough throws over the last three games. After throwing 11 touchdown passes in the first four games and hitting close to 80% of his passes, he’s been off.
Duke is 1-2 against teams that hit at least 60% of their passes. Pribula needs help from the running game that stalled way too often over the last month. But at home, the Cavaliers play better.
Duke at Virginia Prediction, Betting Lines
Virginia is 4-0 in Charlottesville and 0-3 on the road. Duke lost to Georgia Tech on the road and needed a minor miracle against Illinois to get a win away from Durham.
This won’t be last year’s ACC Championship, but it’ll be another tough, thrilling game, only this time Virginia pulls it out.
