Investigators with the central robbery unit laid more than 100 charges, recovered 15 stolen high-end vehicles with an approximate value of $1.4 million and seized four illegal firearms, along with ammunition and magazines.
“While we are making progress, more needs to be done. Behind every theft or carjacking is not just the victim, a family, a business community, and broader community,” Peel Regional Police Chief Nishan Duraiappah said Monday morning.
“The people that were involved with the carjacking victims were going through the course of their average day. I had the opportunity to speak with one victim involved in this circumstance, and he left a man’s hockey league at a community centre and was carjacked.”
During the press conference, the cops showed a short video of what appeared to be three men dressed in black wrestling with one man in a white T-shirt, prior to driving away with the vehicle. Police said the man suffered physical injuries during the incident.
“It can be terrifying and deeply personal experiences for victims and their families,” said Nando Iannicca, chair of the police services board. “They can be terrifying and deeply emotional experiences as well. They make people feel unsafe in their own driveways, neighbourhoods, communities, and homes.”
Police say that since peaking in 2023, vehicle thefts across the region have declined by more than 50% and are down a further 10% year-to-date in 2026. The region used to lead the nation in carjacking rates, at almost one stolen car per hour, per day back in 2023.
The right direction
“The public needs to know we are heading the right way, but we all know that one incident is one too many, and today’s investigation represents the victimization of people in our community,” Duraiappah said. “So, the margins are getting smaller, but still the demand is there, which we need to address.”
Police said the investigation focused on 21 incidents of vehicle thefts. Police also alleged knives and firearms were used in the commission of some of these incidents. Police say some victims were physically assaulted. Some of the injuries were termed “severe.”
Cops arrested 10 individuals. Dubbed Project High Guard, the investigation began in June 2025 and ended this past April. In total, 128 charges were laid.
After a series of warrants on Sept. 3, the police arrested and charged 10 men in connection with the investigation.
Ekamveer Randhawa, 20, of Caledon; Shan Dhindsa, 21, of Brampton; Aryan Deol, 20, of Brampton; Tayvien Coley, 19, of Halton Hills; Manavjot Dhaliwal, 24, of Brampton; Parth Sharma, 21, of Oakville; Madhumeet Randhawa, 37, of Brampton; Gregory Seniv, 37, of Mississauga.
Due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the two 17-year-olds arrested cannot be named. Both of the teens were from Peel Region.
Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police, Toronto Police Services, Halton Regional Police and Hamilton Police Services assisted with executing warrants on the day of the arrests.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators with the Central Robbery Bureau at 905-453-2121, ext. 3410.
