The Philadelphia 76ers are just a day away from kicking off their 2026 NBA season with a road game vs the New York Knicks. The 76ers are entering this season with legit title aspirations after remaking their roster this summer, headlined by the free agency signing of LeBron James.
James has wasted no time becoming a fan favorite in the local community, although he doesn’t live there, instead commuting by helicopter from New York City, and recently, another example of that was revealed in the form of an epic mural.

James looked shaky at times during the preseason in his new 76ers threads, especially on the defensive end of the floor, although it would be a lot to expect him to go all out as he approaches the age of 42.
Meanwhile, the 76ers are getting ready to commence one of the most fascinating basketball experiments in recent NBA history. On the one hand, the 76ers have a ton of raw talent, thanks primarily to the additions of James and Jaylen Brown, in addition to the continued ascension of Tyrese Maxey and former league MVP Joel Embiid.
However, major questions persist about whether the 76ers will be able to shoot the ball from the perimeter, defend at an elite level, or stay healthy enough to compete for 82 games in what suddenly looks to be the better of the two conferences. There are also questions about how the 76ers’ offense will function in close games late, considering that all of their starters are used to having the ball in their hands in those spots.
In any case, the 76ers will look to start answering those questions when they kick off their season on Tuesday evening on the road vs the defending champion Knicks.
