‘It’s Almost Disrespectful to the QB Position,’ ‘I Can Only Imagine How Sean Payton Feels’ — Ex-NFL QB Torches Bo Nix After ‘Frustrating’ TNF Showing
· Yahoo Sports
Denver quarterback Bo Nix led the Broncos to a gritty 17-14 Week 6 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night to improve to 4-2 for the season. Despite his team’s win, Nix struggled once again, completing 17 of his 27 passes for 107 yards, no touchdowns, and no interceptions, while rushing four times for two yards.
After the game, former NFL quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick slammed Nix for his performances under center for the Broncos this season.

Ryan Fitzpatrick Slams Bo Nix After Broncos’ Win Over Seahawks
Speaking on “NFL on Prime,” Fitzpatrick criticized Nix’s reluctance to push the ball downfield and questioned his decision-making in crucial situations.
“I mean, I’m glad they scored the two touchdowns in the first half, but they were in four-minute mode when the second half started,” Fitzpatrick said. “It was really frustrating to watch, and part of it, for me, is that Bo Nix is not playing competitively. It’s almost disrespectful to the quarterback position, the way he’s playing football.”
Fitzpatrick also took issue with Nix’s short passing game and his handling of a third-and-eight situation.
“He’s throwing behind, but he has no trust from his coach. He calls a screenplay on third-and-eight. Just run up and let the clock keep going. What does he do? He throws it away. Seattle gets the ball. They have a timeout,” Fitzpatrick said.

The former quarterback then pointed to Nix’s opportunities in overtime, arguing that the Broncos signal-caller needed to be more aggressive when the game was on the line.
Denver finished with 168 total yards and converted just three of 14 third-down attempts. Seattle, meanwhile, recorded 353 total yards but was unable to turn its offensive advantage into a victory. With Nix under center, the Broncos have earned a PFN Offense Impact score of 70.6, ranking 26th through five weeks.
Fitzpatrick further sympathized with Nix’s teammates and coaches, including Payton and Webb, over the quarterback’s competitiveness.
“Now, they’re in the locker room right now. They’re excited. They won. He’s not playing competitive football right now,” Fitzpatrick added. “I can only imagine how Sean Payton feels. I mean, Sean Payton, Davis Webb, everybody that blocks for him, he’s not competing right now.

“And that’s something he’s hung his hat on for the last two years. I don’t know if he’s still injured, and I don’t know what’s going on, but it’s not good enough.”
Nix, who was ranked No. 59 in the NFL Top 100 Players list after throwing for 3,931 yards and 25 touchdowns in 2025, has tallied 1,049 passing yards on 60.3% completion, 6 touchdowns and 3 interceptions for the Broncos through the first five games this season, ranking 28th in PFN QB Impact Score with a grade of 68.4.
Denver has also struggled to generate consistent offensive production. Head coach Sean Payton recently resumed play-calling duties from Davis Webb in an attempt to address those issues, but the offense continued to sputter against Seattle.
