Rolling Thunder: Hurricanes Sweep Back-to-Back Road Set with Win Over Flyers
· Yahoo Sports
In a shocking turn of events, the Carolina Hurricanes and Philadelphia Flyers did NOT go to overtime Sunday night as…they so frequently do.
Taking the game 4-1, Carolina did so with the absence of their Captain, Jordan Staal, who was ruled out of the game ahead of their matchup due to a lower-body injury. Per Tripp Tracy, he did mention seeing Staal take some warm-up exercises with the team after the announcement had been made, but understandably, he did not play.

Centering the third line in his place was Mark Jankowski, while Nicolas Deslauriers moved back into the lineup on the bottom line – which was centered by Jesperi Kotkaniemi.
The first period was quiet for both teams, with the Hurricanes seeming a little out of the groove missing their captain, but by the second period, they certainly had their legs back under themselves as they charged ahead with a two-goal lead thanks to Andrei Svechnikov and Shayne Gostisbehere.

After dealing with some boos on an unproductive power play, the Flyers – who are missing a trio of notable players – got on the board, as well, with a good tip-in from Christian Dvorak on a shot from Nick Seeler.
Nonetheless, Sebastian Ahoextended the lead before going into the locker room for the second intermission.

Funnily enough, despite being in Philadelphia, the game featured some very Hurricanes-esque ‘hype music’, such as Neil Diamond’s ‘Sweet Caroline’, and even the Hurricanes’ power play music at the start of their own power play.
I wonder if they realized they were playing the Hurricanes' hype song here
