With Brock Purdy throwing a pair of touchdown passes and San Francisco's defense picking off Sam Darnold twice, the 32-29 victory kept the 49ers unbeaten at 5-0 — and as the best team in football right now, they've earned the right to talk some smack.
As he put together a vintage performance on Sunday, Mike Evans had a viral exchange with Trevon Diggs, pausing to question who he was even trading barbs with.
Here's a look at Evans' viral exchange with Diggs and what the 49ers star receiver said afterward.

Evans totaled seven catches for 113 yards and a touchdown on Sunday, looking like an excellent offseason acquisition to the 49ers' offense as a top threat for Purdy. As he's been known to do in the past, though, the veteran receiver was willing to talk some trash along the way.
Before the 49ers went on to claim the win, Diggs approached Evans with some heated words — and rather than respond to him immediately, Evans took a moment to learn who he was even talking to, grabbing Diggs' shoulders and turning him around to see the last name on his jersey.

Evans insisted postgame that he didn't know it was Diggs until he checked.
"I was blocking him until the whistle, and he said something like, 'I'm doing extra,' or something like that. And I didn't know that was him at first," Evans said. "I honestly didn't know it was him, cause in the helmet it's hard to tell sometimes. We were talking trash, and I think I like pushed him, I was like, 'Who are you?' Then I looked and made sure: 'Oh, it's f---ing Diggs.'"

While Evans himself is on a new team this season, Diggs, who formerly led the NFL in interceptions with the Cowboys in 2021, didn't join the Seahawks until training camp was already well-underway. He was signed to Seattle's active roster for Sunday's matchup after spending time on the practice squad.
Evans certainly got the best of the matchup in Week 5 with his big game and a 49ers win — but when the teams face off in Week 12 again, chances are he'll be more familiar with Diggs.
