Sanjay Khare has taken over as Principal Chief Engineer, Central Railway on 01.10.2026. Before taking over as Principal Chief Engineer, he was posted as Chief Track Engineer, Western Railway. He succeeds Rajneesh Mathur, who superannuated on 30.09.2026.
Sanjay Khare, an officer of Indian Railway Service of Engineers of 1991 batch has a degree in Bachelor of Engineering(Civil) and Diploma from Indian Institute of Technology(Water Resources), Delhi.

Sanjay Khare has vast and rich experience of railway working in different capacities.
He has worked as Assistant Divisional Engineer/ Renukoot, Ahmednagar.
As Executive Engineer and Deputy Chief Engineer, he has played a key role in the successful execution of various Construction projects on Central Railway like Panvel- Karjat New line, Latur- Miraj gauge conversion, Amravati-Narkhed New line etc.
He has also worked as Senior Divisional Engineer in Solapur and Nagpur division of Central Railway.
He has also been a part of the faculty at the Indian Railways Institute of Civil Engineering (IRICEN), Pune as Senior Professor (Works).
Sanjay Khare has put in 32 years of service in Railways. He has wide ranging experience of management and construction works besides general administration on Indian Railways
His vast experience will help Central Railway in achieving even bigger glories while fulfilling various challenging tasks and targets.
