The Dallas Mavericks are in an interesting spot with Kyrie Irving, to say the least, as he has had his name in trade speculation all summer. Irving is an NBA champion, but the timelines with him and Cooper Flagg just don't match.

There is also new management in Dallas, so that is another factor. Irving has made it clear he wants to do whatever it takes to win.
“I’m not gonna shy away from saying it’s been a little chaotic at times, inside the locker room as well as outside…I’m in love with this place just because of how welcoming it was, not just from the franchise aspect but also the fans, lot of support around the city…We’re building something…Having that championship mindset that whatever we face we can deal with,” Irving said.
However, NBA insider Marc Spears believes if Irving wants to be traded at some point, they will grant his wish.
“Masai also has a really good relationship as you mentioned with Kyrie Irving. I think it's the kind of relationship where if Kyrie says, hey, Masai, like, this isn't for me, I think they could work together to get something done. I don't think would be something ugly. I think there would be interest in Kyrie if he's as healthy as he looks,” Spears said.
If that does happen, Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz believes the Mavericks can trade Irving to the Orlando Magic for Jalen Suggs and draft capital.
“Despite adding Desmond Bane last season to a core of Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner and Jalen Suggs, Orlando ranked 18th in offense during the regular season and were dead last among the 16 playoff teams. Constructing a deal that would send Suggs and picks, or other pieces, to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Irving makes too much sense for both teams,” Swartz wrote.
The Magic would be taking a big risk in this because there is no guarantee that Irving would sign with the Magic in free agency. It does get rid of Suggs' massive contract, though.
Suggs is currently on his $150 million deal with Orlando. Almost in a way, the Magic would have one chance to win an NBA championship with Irving. It may seem like a good deal at the moment, but if he doesn’t come back, it was wasteful.
