Following Wednesday's trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Dallas Cowboys, cornerback Joey Porter Jr. said the back injury that sidelined him through all of training camp, the preseason and the first three games of the regular season is "feeling better."

The fourth-year pro was ruled out for the Steelers' Thursday night matchup versus the Cleveland Browns to open Week 4. Yet Porter could be available for the Cowboys on Sunday versus the Houston Texans after being acquired for a 2028 second-round pick and a 2027 sixth-rounder, according to ESPN.
"He moved around good today," Dallas head coach Brian Schottenheimer told reporters after Thursday's practice, via The Athletic. "It was a good start today. It was a positive first day."
Porter was not listed on the Cowboys' injury report for Thursday.
That would be an impressive recovery for Porter, whose injury status many attributed to him holding out for a new contract from the Steelers. Taking the field promptly after being traded to the Cowboys does little to dispel that notion.

Porter himself lent credence to the skepticism with his remarks about his experience in Pittsburgh to reporters on Thursday, saying he didn't feel valued.
"Definitely felt disrespected, definitely felt undervalued," Porter said, via the Cowboys' official website. "But that's old news now. That's how I look at it. I'm onto new beginnings, new chapters. I'm a Cowboy, I'm in Dallas, so I'm happy about that."
He laughed when it was pointed out that his back felt fine in Dallas.
Porter and the Cowboys still need to work out a new contract, which was the basis of his issues with the Steelers. Reportedly, he is seeking a deal that pays him a $30 million average annual salary, which would put him among the top six cornerbacks in the NFL, according to Over the Cap.
However, Porter appears to be assured that a new deal will be coming. He made it clear that he wants to continue playing in Dallas.
"I'm down with it if they are," he said, via The Athletic's Jon Machota. "I want to finish my career here."
Last season. Porter Jr. played in 14 games for Pittsburgh, totaling 52 tackles and 14 passes defended with one interception. The Steelers' 2023 second-round selection (No. 32 overall) out of Penn State has three career interceptions in 47 games during his three NFL seasons.
