Julian Lewis ‘Trash’ Post Liked by Deion Sanders? Screenshot Fuels Drama
· Yahoo Sports
A viral screenshot on social media claims that the Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders liked a post calling quarterback Julian Lewis “trash.” The image started surfacing right after the Buffaloes followed up a 41-7 blowout loss against Northwestern with a 23-13 loss to Baylor. No one has confirmed whether the screenshot is real. Plus, Coach Prime hasn’t said anything about it publicly.

The team’s recent struggles helped the screenshot draw more attention. Lewis, 19, started the season under center for an offense that ranked 103rd nationally in SP+ efficiency last year. Against Northwestern on Sept. 19, he completed 19 of 29 passes for 168 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. His first interception ended a streak of 150 passes without a turnover, as Northwestern outgained Colorado 423-348.

Isaac Wilson took over in the second half, throwing for 156 yards and a touchdown. Colorado converted just 3 of 15 third downs in the game. The loss dropped Colorado’s record to 2-2, adding even more fuel to the ongoing drama surrounding the program.
Deion Sanders’ alleged anti-Julian Lewis reaction draws attention
Matt McCall, a Colorado alumnus who posts online as Moneyline Matt, shared a screenshot on X of an Instagram post from recruits.cfb highlighting Sanders’ previous press comments about Julian Lewis. The graphic explicitly called the young quarterback “TRASH” in capital letters, and Coach Prime’s official account could be seen liking the post. But the irony? The post no longer exists anywhere online.
“Just gonna leave this here to show the type of ‘leadership’ on display in Boulder,” McCall wrote. He argued that the heavy social media exposure Sanders once promoted has turned into the program’s biggest problem.

Social media, the cameras, and all the exposure Deion said would be a positive for this program have somehow become one of its biggest problems.

This social media drama hits at the worst possible time for Sanders. Following back-to-back blowout losses, major outlets like Sports Illustrated and USA Today placed Coach Prime on their hot-seat and potential firing lists.
Critics highlight his disappointing 17-22 FBS record since taking over the Buffaloes. ESPN’s Paul Finebaum even stated that Sanders’ coaching career is in a visible spiral.
Sanders’ own statements on Lewis remain measured despite the noise. “It was a decision I made because I was trying to get us going,” Sanders said about benching Lewis during the Baylor game.
He urged fans not to give up on “JuJu” and emphasized that Colorado is not abandoning anyone. Because social media interactions are easy to fake or trigger by mistake, the screenshot remains unverified. However, as Colorado prepares to host a ranked Texas Tech team, the pressure on Sanders’ job security and his quarterback decisions will only intensify.
