Green Bay has already added veteran Laken Tomlinson, but the Packers may not be finished addressing the position. Wendell Ferreira of A to Z Sports identified Mekhi Becton as another potential name for the team to consider.
Ferreira points out that Becton would bring valuable starting experience to Green Bay while also giving the Packers added versatility, as he has the ability to line up at both guard and tackle.
Mekhi Becton’s fit with the Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers offensive line is shown during the first quarter of their game against the Washington Commanders Thursday, September 11, 2025 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Shown are offensive tackle Anthony Belton (71), guard Sean Rhyan (75), guard Elgton Jenkins (74), offensive tackle Jordan Morgan (77) and offensive tackle Rasheed Walker (63).“Becton had a rough 2025 season with the Los Angeles Chargers, but he played well at right guard for the Philadelphia Eagles two years ago,” wrote the NFL insider.
“He also brings tackle experience from his time with the New York Jets, even though his play there was inconsistent. Becton has his own share of struggles, but he has played better football than the guards currently on the Packers’ roster. His positional flexibility to slide to tackle in a pinch adds value.”
Becton still has plenty of experience despite his age, having started 59 games since the New York Jets selected him 11th overall in 2020. At 27, he could provide the Packers with a veteran option capable of adding competition and depth across the offensive line.
Green Bay Packers guard Jager Burton (52) and guard Jordan Morgan (77) provide pass protection during the fourth quarter of their game Thursday, Sept. 24, 2026 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Atlanta Falcons beat there Green Bay Packers 35-14.Becton joined the Los Angeles Chargers as a free agent but struggled to deliver the level of play expected from him. He logged 793 snaps at right guard, while his PFF grade fell sharply from 70.8 during his time in Philadelphia to 37.1 in Los Angeles. The Chargers ultimately moved on, leaving Becton without a team.
Injuries have left the Packers with little room for hesitation when evaluating offensive line options. Zach Bako-Bewele is done for the season at right tackle, while Aaron Banks has battled several injury issues that could continue to affect how often he is able to take the field at left guard.
