Jürgen Klopp Confirms Kai Havertz Scan After Germany Injury

Kai Havertz is awaiting the results of further checks after suffering a muscle injury during Germany's 1-1 draw with the Netherlands.
The Arsenal forward started Jürgen Klopp's first game in charge of Germany but was replaced by Younes Ebnoutalib after 30 minutes in Amsterdam. Havertz as struggled following a foul from Quinten Timber, brother of Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber, before he came off, although Klopp did not attempt to link that challenge directly to the injury when he spoke afterwards.

Germany had already lost Jamal Musiala before kick-off, with Nadiem Amiri brought into the starting side at short notice. By the end of the night, Klopp was waiting for medical information on both Musiala and Havertz.
“The negative highlights are obviously the two injuries to Jamal and Kai,” Klopp said in his post-match press conference.
“Both are muscular injuries. Jamal's happened before the game and Kai's relatively early in the game. At the moment they're either still having an MRI, on the way there or already finished. But we don't have any results yet.”
Havertz had been playing through the middle for Germany before his withdrawal. Ebnoutalib replaced him and was immediately involved, testing Bart Verbruggen before Felix Nmecha put Germany ahead two minutes after the substitution.
Cody Gakpo eventually equalised in stoppage time to make it 1-1, but Klopp's press conference quickly returned to the two players Germany had lost during a disrupted evening.
The injuries may also force Klopp to make another squad decision.
Germany face Greece next, and Klopp was asked whether Jonathan Burkardt or Nick Woltemade could be brought in following the injuries to Musiala and Havertz. He did not confirm that another player would be called up, instead saying Germany would wait for more information first.
“I think it just makes sense that we wait a little bit now, but yes, then we'll have to think again,” Klopp said.
“That's clear. We can do it, so we should do it.”
For Havertz, nothing more definite emerged when Klopp left the press conference.
His substitution after half an hour was his first appearance under the new Germany head coach, who had named him in the starting XI alongside Brentford forward Kevin Schade and Karim Adeyemi. Musiala had originally also been selected before his late withdrawal.
Klopp described both injuries only as muscular and did not give a recovery timescale for either player. He also did not say how long Havertz could be unavailable.
That leaves Arsenal without an answer yet on whether the problem will affect Havertz once club football resumes.
The next information should come from the medical assessment Germany was still waiting on after the game. Until those results are known, Klopp's update goes no further than a muscular injury and an early end to Havertz's night in Amsterdam.
