'Dreams are crushed': Fans react as Mariners miss playoffs a year after deep run
· Yahoo Sports
The Mariners slim playoff hopes were dashed Thursday, when the Texas Rangers defeated the New York Mets, pushing the M's too far down the standings to catch up by season's end.
"This morning I woke up with a little bit of hope that maybe they could win five games... but it is what it is and I'm still here to support them no matter what," one fan told KING 5 on his way to Thursday's game at T-Mobile Park, a 6-4 loss to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Despite the early elimination from postseason contention, the Mariners announced an attendance of 31,032.
"Next year, there's always next year," the fan said.
The disappointing end to the season comes after last year's run to the American League Championships Series, where the Mariners fell just short to the Toronto Blue Jays.
"I'm very sad. We had a lot of hope last year for a World Series, at least to make it there because we're the only team who hasn't made it there and and now our dreams are crushed. I still support the Mariners but it's very disappointing," another fan said."I think we could some better hitters, just saying! I feel like we need to work harder. I don't know about changes, I think everyone can just improve."
Manager Dan Wilson, recently named one of the 50 greatest Mariners by the team, is widely considered to be on the hot seat after taking over as skipper during the 2024 season.
Shortstop JP Crawford and outfielder Randy Arozarena are both scheduled to become free agents after the season.
The Mariners will finish the season at T-Mobile Park will three more games against the Angels on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
