Despite signing a massive $244 million contract, Tyrese Haliburton still can’t resist the thrill of hunting down a good bargain.
Tyrese Haliburton locked down his future in Indiana by signing a five-year max extension that could top $245 million. The deal makes him the highest-paid player in franchise history, firmly establishing him as the face of the Pacers.

However, despite his big payday, he still finds himself living a rather frugal life, with strict policies in place on flying privately after being spotted on a Southwest flight in the exit row.
And that’s not all, as he loves a purchase or two on Facebook Marketplace and eBay.
Speaking on the Boardroom, the interviewer asked: “Very recently, you bought a turntable from Facebook Marketplace?”
Tyrese Haliburton responded: “Yeah. I met up with the dude at the parking lot at Krispy Kreme. Sometimes, you know, I go on wherever I’m looking at, I see something, I’m like, “Oh, I want it, but that would be financially irresponsible for me to just buy it because I just saw it right there. Why don’t we search for a deal?” So, we go on eBay.
“I love eBay. I love eBay. It might be one of the best websites in the world, to be honest. But then I got to check Facebook Marketplace just off the strength. I have to because somebody local got it. Usually I won’t do it. Like I’m not going to go on. I still have Facebook, but I only I got to see what’s going on at the crib. That’s what I use Facebook for, but I’m not posting or anything.
“But wifey, she might, you know, post like our wedding pictures on Facebook. So I’m like, let’s if I see something on Facebook Marketplace. I’ll send it to her. Maybe I’ll send it to my brother who doesn’t have the same last name as me, right?
“I probably ain’t really bought much off there, but I sold when I got traded from Sacramento, my parents sold my whole crib on Facebook Marketplace. So, there’s this woman who bought like my kitchen table. His family bought my kitchen table. I wasn’t there. My mom and they have DM’d me before like, “Hey, would you come to the crib and sign the table?” And I’m like, I’m not doing that.
“But, I don’t know if I’ve really bought that. Might have been my first real purchase on there. You know, I bought a Steam Deck, the little gaming console. I bought that on Facebook Marketplace.”
It’s quite refreshing that despite earning millions, Tyrese Haliburton stays true to his low-key roots, prioritising practical deals over flashiness and keeping his everyday life grounded.
