Israel Adesanya sounds off on Tom Aspinall drama

Israel Adesanya is the latest to offer their condolenses to Tom Aspinall.
It has been a week since Aspinall was forced to vacate his UFC heavyweight title due to lingering issues with his injured eye. The injury came during his last appearance in the cage last year and has worsened despite several surgeries. The 33-year-old is now committed to getting healthy, and it’s got fans talking.

The latest to join in the conversation is Israel Adesanya, who was saddened by the events that unfolded around the Brit. With Tom Aspinall unable to train, and rumors swirling regarding his future in the sport, Adesanya had this to say:
“So, his eye is in a position, or in a state, where even if he gets hit hard during training, it can affect his eye, and then that way he’s not going to be able to show up. That sucks, man.”
Tom Aspinall was flying ahead of his injury. Excluding his only UFC loss, which came due to a freak injury and was later avenged, Aspinall was bulldozing through his division, knocking down contenders every step of the way. Discussing his run to the title, Adesanya continued.
“[He’s] a guy who has done it the right way,” Adesanya added. “He came in; he’s not a, you know, like me or Conor or whatever- braggadocious, talk sh*t, but still deliver. He just came in and worked, showcased why he’s a great heavyweight, and then become a champion after how long? Took the fight on short notice, I believe, with Pavlovich. Then, eventually, now, he should be celebrated as the heavyweight champion; the baddest man on the planet.”
“It sucks. For a guy like Tom, who I feel is a good dude. He’s a great champion. It’s just a sh*t roll of the dice.”
