Ross Smith has been a relevant name in darts for around the last decade, but has really made big strides in the past couple of years.

He was mostly known for winning the 2022 European Championship, but with another major title under his belt after the WSoD Finals concluded on Sunday, Smith could be in the running for a spot in the Premier League of Darts.
Breaking down Ross Smith's odds at making the 2027 Premier League lineup
Smith was quietly having one of the best years of any player in the PDC, but over the past month or so, he's no longer going under the radar.
He now has two PC event titles, as well as two ET event titles (and two additional runner-up finishes) in 2026.

He added to that impressive resume Sunday, winning his first major in nearly four years.
Unfortunately, it's an unranked major, so none of the prize money Smith won will be added to the Main OoM. Had it been added, Smith would have climbed well into the top-10 (around #7) on the OoM.
He's been great on the Pro Tour in recent years, but hasn't done much at majors in the past couple of years, outside of a pair of quarterfinal runs at the Matchplay, and a semifinal finish at the 2024 PC Finals.

He could use that to his advantage, though, because he won't be defending much prize money in the majors leading up to the PC Finals.
His performances at those events will really determine whether or not he has a shot at making the 2027 PL lineup, but don't count him out.
He's still got a lot to prove, as he's been a little fortunate at times with the field of players he's run into, but his numbers continue to rise, so he'll be up for any task.

Some consistent QF runs with SF, or better, results sprinkled in could be the formula Smith uses to try and squeeze into the PL field.
As it stands, he wouldn't be in the eight-player lineup most likely, but should they expand it to 10 or a different number, his odds will increase.
Smith is currently set to be #11 in the world after the WC, so if he can move up a few more spots, it'll help his case.
He's provisionally the #1 seed at the European Championship and is #7 on the PC OoM.
