Big inning lifts Pirates to win over Brewers to salvage series

The Pirates sent 11 men to the plate and used a big two-out rally in the second inning to carry them to a 7-4 win over the Brewers in Thursday’s series finale at PNC Park.
Scoring Plays
Top 2nd, 1-0 MIL: David Hamilton got the Brewers (95-56) on the board with a two-out RBI single to left field off Wilber Dotel.
Bottom 2nd, 5-1 PIT: The Pirates (76-77) struck for five runs against Kyle Harrison (10-5) in the second, all with two outs. Konnor Griffin plated two with a bases-loaded double to left and Oneil Cruz scored two more with an opposite-field single to left. After the Pirates loaded the bases again, Brandon Lowe was hit with a pitch to force in a run.
Top 6th, 5-2 PIT: The Brewers scored on a throwing error from shortstop Konnor Griffin. Bo Naylor hit a double play ball to Griffin, who stepped on the second base bag but delivered an errant throw to first base. Joey Ortiz scored from third.
Top 8th, 5-4 PIT: Garrett Mitchell led off the inning with a pinch-hit double off Luke Weaver. After advancing to third, he scored on Sal Frelick’s sacrifice fly to left. Bo Naylor then snuck a two-out home run over the right field wall to bring Milwaukee within one.
Bottom 8th, 7-4PIT: Henry Davis hammered a two-run home run off the rotunda in left against Aaron Ashby. The blast, which left the bat at 110.2 mph. traveled 423 feet.
