Lane Kiffin is set to make his return to Oxford, Mississippi, on Saturday, Sept. 19, less than 10 months after leaving and accepting the LSU football head coaching job right before last year's Ole Miss team was getting set to make a College Football Playoff run. LSU and Ole Miss square off Saturday night inside Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
And fittingly enough, the showdown that will be featured by ESPN's College Gameday this Saturday will be a top-10 contest. It's the first time in 64 years that LSU and Ole Miss will face off in the Magnolia Bowl as top-10 opponents.
No. 8 LSU (2-0) and No. 9 Ole Miss (2-0) are both undefeated after handling their respective business the first two weeks of the year, setting up the highly-anticipated game.
Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss has played well in the first two games and last season against LSU Defensive Coordinator Blake Baker's defense, he totaled 385 total yards of offense with one passing touchdown.
LSU also has a couple of Ole Miss players follow Kiffin from Oxford to Baton Rouge. A pair of seniors, defensive end Princewill Umanmielen and linebacker TJ Dottery, along with sophomore receiver Winston Watkins Jr. will also be returning to Ole Miss for the first time since deciding to transfer.
