The Texas Longhorns booked an exciting 24-23 comeback win over the top-ranked Ohio State at their home. Arch Manning, for his part, was front and center in the game.

Speaking to ESPN’s Laura Rutledge postgame, the talented quarterback mentioned the nightmare he had regarding last year’s game. However, he also mentioned that not every win has to be pretty.

“Our guys at all three places, it wasn’t very pretty, but we found a way to win. That’s what good teams do,” he said.

While also talking about last year’s adversity, Manning added, “We couldn’t lose to them again. I had nightmares about that game last year.”

The nightmare he was talking about was from the 2025 season was losing to Ohio State. The Texas quarterback made his first start as the Longhorns’ full-time starter against the Buckeyes in August 2025, but the game quickly turned into a frustrating 14-7 loss.

Manning struggled to get the Texas offense going, and the defeat followed him throughout the offseason. The highly rated quarterback later admitted that the loss stayed on his mind and even gave him bad dreams.

He finally had a chance to change that story with the latest comeback victory, when Texas hosted the top-ranked Buckeyes for a rematch. Once again, the Longhorns found themselves in trouble early. Texas struggled in the first half and went into the fourth quarter trailing 23-3.

This time, Manning refused to let the game slip away. He helped lead an incredible comeback, converting several crucial fourth downs as Texas scored three unanswered touchdowns. The Longhorns completed the rally with a 24-23 victory, taking the lead with just 25 seconds remaining.
