In Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes' first NFL game since his ACL injury, an undrafted free agent will be his left tackle.
With starting left tackle Josh Simmons not playing in the team's Monday night home opener against the Denver Broncos, the team will turn to undrafted tackle Kahlil Benson to protect Mahomes' blind side.

Who is Benson? He's a former Indiana and Colorado offensive tackle who won a national title with the Hoosiers in January. He won Kansas City's swing tackle job in training camp, meaning he will be the first man up with Simmons not playing on Sunday. It's wild to suggest an undrafted rookie will be Mahomes' left tackle on Monday, but it's true.

We're sure the Chiefs didn't expect to be in this situation earlier in the year, but they'll now depend on an undrafted rookie to keep Mahomes upright in the latter's big return-from-injury game.
