Front row seats at Rams-49ers Australia game ridiculously far from action

The San Francisco 49ers and Los Angles Rams kicked off their seasons in Australia. Much was made about the distance the two teams traveled leading up to the game. And even more was made of when they traveled. But the most impressive distance worth noting at the game was how far the fans were from the field.

The game took place at Melbourne Cricket Ground, a massive stadium that can fit over 100,000 fans. Since cricket is played on a significantly larger field than American football, they just plopped the gridiron in the middle. And it looked like it was very far away from all the fans who bought tickets.

You have to admit that’s less than ideal. Who wants to watch a football game at football field level when it looks like you’re a full football field away? Well, football fans, obviously.
Netflix gave viewers a a pretty good idea of how vast the stadium was right as the game was about to start.

Playing a professional football game in Australia is completely unnecessary, but when you look at that, it is kind of cool. Hopefully, the NFL can return the favor and host a cricket match at SoFi Stadium. Yeah, it might be a little tight, but think about how the Big Bash League could grow the game if they sent the Melbourne Renegades and Perth Scorchers to Los Angeles to open the season.
