Confirmed: Chippa United vs Mamelodi Sundowns moved to new stadium

Instead, Chippa United will welcome the reigning African champions at Buffalo City Stadium in KuGompo, East London.

CHIPPА UNITED CONFIRM NEW VENUE
The change comes after Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium failed to meet the Premier Soccer League’s required standards following an inspection.
Concerns were raised over the condition and maintenance of the playing surface.The development comes just days before what promises to be one of Chippa United’s biggest home fixtures of the season.
The club had initially been scheduled to host Mamelodi Sundowns in Gqeberha. That plan has now changed.
Buffalo City Stadium will instead host the encounter, with the venue having already welcomed Chippa United for their recent league match against Milford FC.
The club is now calling on supporters across the Eastern Cape to turn up in numbers. Tickets have been advertised at R100.
LEAGUE FORM
Sundowns have made a sensational start to the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season, remaining unbeaten after their opening six matches.
The Brazilians have collected an impressive 16 points to sit firmly at the top of the league table.
Their campaign has been powered by an impressive attacking display. Sundowns began with a dominant 5-2 victory over AmaZulu FC, before edging Lamontville Golden Arrows FC 2-1.
They then produced another thrilling performance to beat TS Galaxy FC 3-2.

The champions followed that up with a comfortable 2-0 win over Marumo Gallants FC, before recording another 2-0 victory against Milford FC.
Their only dropped points came against Kaizer Chiefs, with the two sides playing to a tense 1-1 draw.
The results have once again underlined Sundowns’ credentials as serious Betway Premiership title contenders.
For Chippa United, the picture is very different. The Chilli Boys are struggling in 12th place with just four points from their opening five matches.
They remain winless, having registered four draws and one defeat.
Their biggest setback came against Orlando Pirates, who handed them a heavy 3-0 defeat. Their most recent outing ended in another stalemate, with Chippa United playing to a 0-0 draw against Milford FC.
Now, the Chilli Boys face perhaps their toughest challenge yet.
