The Cincinnati Reds signed Chapman as a free agent in January 2010 and sent him to the Bats. He began as a starting pitcher before transitioning to the bullpen.
He went 9-6 with eight saves and 3.57 ERA in 39 appearances with the Bats before the Reds promoted him to Cincinnati for the playoff run. Chapman turned into four-time All-Star with the Reds before they traded him to the New York Yankees.
