Josh Okogie Perfectly Compares LeBron James To Marvel’s Doctor Strange

Philadelphia 76ers superstar LeBron James has been compared to plenty of superheroes over the years, but Utah Jazz guard Josh Okogie might have just come up with the perfect comparison. Okogie recently appeared on the One54 Africa Podcast, where he was asked whether James fits with the 76ers.
“I think LeBron one of them players with his skill set; he can play anywhere,” Okogie said. “… Obviously they’ve been injury-ridden for the last couple of years. I think LeBron provides that stability and that direction.”

Okogie, who signed a two-year, $12 million deal with the Jazz, then asked co-hosts Akbar Gbajabiamila and Godfrey if they were Marvel fans. They said they were, and the 28-year-old then promptly compared James to Doctor Strange.
“Y’all know that one scene when Doctor Strange is like doing all this and trying to figure out every possible [outcome],” Okogie said. “I think LeBron is probably like Doctor Strange right now in his career. He done seen every possible outcome. He done seen every look you can give him, every look a team has tried to guard him or his teammates, and he has a solution for everything.”
Strange, of course, uses the Time Stone to see 14,000,605 future outcomes in Avengers: Infinity War. There was only one in which the superheroes defeated Thanos.
In James’ case, he has all the answers to the test. There is nothing teams can do to surprise the 22-time All-Star after all these years in the NBA. As if that isn’t bad enough for the opposition, he usually knows the plays they’re going to run as well.
Chicago Bulls guard Norman Powell has spoken about how James destroyed the Toronto Raptors teams he was on. He was calling out the Raptors‘ plays on the court, and Powell felt his mind was on another level than everyone else’s. His basketball IQ is indeed off the charts.
James has said he could flip a play when he was eight years old and believes he was born with a sports IQ. That big brain is a big reason the 41-year-old is still able to play at such a high level.
James averaged 20.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 7.2 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game for the Los Angeles Lakers in 2025-26, his record-breaking 23rd season. As if putting up those numbers wasn’t impressive enough, he took his game to a higher level in the playoffs.
With Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves going down with injuries toward the end of the regular season, the Lakers seemed doomed entering the playoffs. They were up against the Houston Rockets in the first round and were massive underdogs.
Okogie was on that Rockets team, and you’d imagine he’d have been pretty confident about advancing to the next round. James, however, brilliantly led the Lakers to a series victory in six games. He averaged 23.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, 8.3 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.3 blocks per game to take down the Rockets.
Leading a team to a playoff series victory isn’t something too many current players can boast of. For James to do it at his age was incredible. There is somehow gas left in the tank, and it’s why multiple teams were chasing him in free agency.
James ultimately signed a two-year, $8 million deal with the 76ers, and they are among the title favorites with him, Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid, and Tyrese Maxey. There is a lot of talent there, and he is the man to bring it all together.
