There is cause for optimism, though, with Patrick Mahomes making a strong recovery from his knee injury that ended his 2025 season.
Travis Kelce has also returned looking like he is in great shape for a 36-year-old tight end.
However, the jury will remain out until Andy Reid’s team can prove they are still the team which has enjoyed so much success over recent years.
Rob Gronkowski certainly feels that the Chiefs’ initial dynasty has already come to an end.

If anyone knows what it is like to play in a dynasty football team, it is Gronkowski following his years with the New England Patriots.
Having won three Super Bowls in recent years, Gronk truly believes the Chiefs’ mini-dynasty enjoyed with players like Tyreek Hill has already come to an end.
“The first era of their dynasty, they had a mini-dynasty, there is no doubt about that, it’s over,” he said on the Up & Adams Show.
“They didn’t go to the playoffs last year, they got smacked all over the field, Patrick Mahomes went down, and just nothing went their way.
“If they are going to have another dynasty, it starts now.”
The Chiefs certainly aren’t heading into the new season as the juggernaut team that many have feared over the last decade.
Kelce is not getting any younger, with this season potentially being his last, which would definitely leave the Chiefs looking like a completely different team.
There is still cause for optimism, though, with the Chiefs acquiring Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III during the offseason.
However, any issues during Mahomes’ return from injury and it could make for another long season in Kansas City.
