Good morning, BBN!

Visit afnews.co.za for more information.

Yesterday was a busy day for the BBN, as it began with most of us thinking we would get clarity on the Mark Mitchell situation for the Kentucky Wildcats. Well, we definitely did, just not in the way we all intended.

Reported by Jeff Goodman, Mitchell has decided to decommit from UK and re-enroll at Missouri as he waits out the fifth-year eligibility suit here in Kentucky. Shocking to most, but not really a wild decision, as the fight against the NCAA continues.

Now what? That is a question the majority of us are asking, as Big Blue Madness is only a few weeks away. Will the Cats add a player to that 15th roster spot, or will it sit empty? That has been the biggest fallout, as Mark Pope and his staff decided to roll the dice with the battle for Mitchell.

Just timing-wise, it seems unlikely we will see another player added, but nothing would shock me after this past month in college sports. While it stings and definitely lowers the ceiling of this roster on paper, the upcoming roster still should bolster the same excitement we had after landing Milan Momcilovic a few months back. Add that in with some big-time games early in the schedule, and we will get our answers fairly quickly to how good this team can be.

Let’s hope it doesn’t end up needing a player like Mitchell.
