Jermaine Dupri drops $18m lawsuit against Sony Music

So So Def boss Jermaine Dupri and Sony Music have reached an out-of-court resolution to the lawsuit Dupri initiated against the music label over unpaid royalties and producer fees.
In the lawsuit, Dupri said that he was underpaid for the music he produced for several artists (Kris Kross, Xscape, Da Brat, Jagged Edge, Usher, Mariah Carey, Bow Wow, J-Kwon, and Bone Crusher), and that the royalties were underreported by Sony.

He sought $18 million (R296 200 080) from the label for years of withheld revenue, reports All Hip Hop.
According to Music Business World Wide, Dupri filed a notice of voluntary dismissal.
Neither party has disclosed what the resolution involves. The dismissal was without prejudice, meaning that Dupri and his companies are free to bring the claims again, according to the report.
The business relationship between So So Def and Sony had ended, with So So Def moving its business elsewhere for distribution, says Music Business World Wide.
