Hornets guard continues impressive play during FIBA World Cup qualifiers

· Yahoo Sports

German point guard and recent Charlotte Hornets trade acquisition Dennis Schroder has been nothing short of dominant for his home country this summer, propelling them to multiple victories during the FIBA World Cup European Qualifiers. After scoring 23 points in 26 minutes against the Netherlands, Schroder and Germany faced a tough task against Poland, who entered Sunday's matchup undefeated.

Schroder led the Germans in scoring once again, scoring 18 of the team's 96 points to go along with five assists, two rebounds and one steal. He also knocked down two game-winning free throws in overtime, as Germany held on to a narrow two-point victory. With the win, Germany now sits atop of Group K with a 7-1 record, although Croatia and Poland remain tied with them for the top spot. Germany's next World Cup qualifiers won't come until late November, when the 2026-27 NBA season is already underway.
