Arsenal are weighing up a late move for Lyon winger Malick Fofana, according to The Athletic.

The Gunners need a new left-winger and are eyeing the 21-year-old Belgian star as another attacking option before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
Arsenal have been tracking his progress and manager Mikel Arteta is understood to have spoken to the Belgium international.
Fofana could represent an attractive opportunity for Arsenal after Lyon missed out on qualification for the league phase of the Champions League.
The winger has started the new campaign strongly, scoring twice in five appearances.
Arsenal are preparing to lose Gabriel Martinelli, who is set to join Al Hilal, while Gabriel Jesus is closing in on a move to Barcelona.
Arsenal have already strengthened on the left this summer by signing Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge, with Leandro Trossard having also left.
Tzolis started the Premier League-opening victory after an encouraging pre-season and looks quite an exciting pick-up, but they need depth.
Fofana has scored 19 goals in 83 appearances for the French side since joining for €17m in January 2024.
The move may leave some Arsenal supporters underwhelmed.
There is no doubt Fofana is an exciting young talent with plenty of room to develop, but the trajectory of Arsenal’s pursuit has changed considerably.
The Gunners were initially linked with genuine ceiling-raisers such as Vinicius Junior before names like Morgan Rogers and Bradley Barcola entered the conversation.
Now, with the deadline approaching, Arsenal could end up placing their faith in a player who is still very much a developing talent rather than an established elite-level winger.
That does not make Fofana a poor signing, far from it. His pace, directness and potential make him an intriguing addition.
However, Arsenal fans will understandably expect more from Andrea Berta after such lofty targets, and the sporting director could face some frowning faces.
