Atlanta Falcons place former Washington football star on waivers

It has been a rough go for former Washington Huskies star edge rusher Bralen Trice since he was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the third round of the 2024 NFL draft.
After tallying 23.5 tackles for loss and 16 sacks between the 2022 and 2023 seasons, the 6-foot-4, 274-pound pass rusher has yet to make his NFL debut following knee injuries that ended both his 2024 and 2025 campaigns before they could even get started. On Sunday, the Falcons placed him on waivers.

Although Trice played a role in the rotation on the edge during Atlanta's three preseason games, it wasn't enough for him to make the roster ahead of veterans Azeez Ojulari, Samson Ebukam, and Za'Darius Smith.

However, this may not spell the end of Trice's time in Atlanta.
If the 25-year-old were to clear waivers, the Falcons could add him back to their practice squad, unless another team chooses to claim him for a spot on its 53-man roster.
Assuming Trice catches on with another organization, he would mark the fourth member of Washington's historic ten-man draft class in 2024 to no longer be with the team that drafted him, joining wide receiver Ja'Lynn Polk, linebacker Edefuan Ulofoshio, and safety Dominique Hampton.
