Thomas Keller, who joined Dresden on an initial loan deal from Heidenheim this summer, made the biggest difference when his red card shifted the game in the favour of his former club.
Vincent Vermeij scored the only goal of the first-half before all hell broke loose after the restart. Including Friedrich Müller’s own-goal, there are five different names in Heidenheim’s scoresheet. Substitutes Oualid Mhamid, Julian Niehues and Maximilian Breuning all found the net since the 87th minute mark.
Heidenheim surprisingly scored and conceded 12 goals each in their first four competitive games of the season. Dresden lost their first two away games of the season by conceding eight goals.
