1. BETWAY
It’s not even close on pure numbers, Betway is South Africa’s biggest online bookmaker by far. Traffic surged from 21-million visits in January 2024 to 46 million by December 2025. That’s a 109% increase, cementing its position as the runaway leader with a 54.7% share SA’s 10 biggest sports betting sites. Impressively, Betway appears to have crossed over globally, too. Not only does it rank as the most visited sports gaming site in South Africa, but it holds seventh position worldwide.
2. HOLLYWOODBETS
Meet the next homegrown challenger from KwaZulu-Natal. Hollywoodbets has grown impressively, from 20 million to 24.5 million visits over the same two-year period we’re looking at. Therefore, it firmly holds the number two spot for SA’s 10 biggest sports betting sites. However, what Hollywoodbets lacks in Betway’s raw traffic, it makes up for in loyalty. Hollywoodbets users engage far more deeply, with 15.39 pages per visit versus Betway’s 5.03, and its bounce rate is less than half that of Betway’s.
3. LOTTOSTAR
This is a different animal entirely. Built around fixed-odds betting on lottery numbers rather than sports, LottoStar traffic fluctuates between 3.7-million and 6-million monthly, with a peak in December 2025 suggesting seasonal interest.
4. YESPLAY
Small but explosive, YesPlay surged from just 380 000 visits in January 2024 to 2.7 million by December 2025. That’s a 612% increase. It’s licensed by the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board and is built around a mobile-first app. Spanning sports, lottos, casino and esports, no brand in SA’s 10 biggest sports betting sites has shown as much growth.
5. WORLD SPORTS BETTING
A legacy operator in South Africa, its traffic has dropped from 1.5 million to 1.3 million visits over the two-year period, an 11.2% decline. Industry experts suggest it is losing users to more agile, mobile-optimised competitors.
6. EASYBET
The mid-market’s fastest climber, EasyBet’s traffic has nearly tripled, rising 198% from 333 000 to 992 000 monthly visits. So, it’s knocking on the door of the million club, and the growth curve suggests it’s probably already there in 2026.
7. SPORTINGBET
Sportingbet’s steady traffic rose from 396 000 to 780 000 visits (42.4%) over the period in question. Not a headline brand, but a genuine mid-tier success story built on solid, incremental gains.
8. SUNBET
SunBet us backed by the country’s most iconic gaming name; the JSE-listed casino resort group Sun International. However, while online traffic has grown 143.7% from 291 000 to 709 000, many will be surprised to see it down in number eight. Proving that a trust advantage in bricks and mortar doesn’t necessarily buy you digital success.
9. SUPABETS
Another brand that’s shrunk outright the last two years. Supabets fell from 880 000 to 687 000 visits, a 21.9% decline. However, it’s still a recognisable name and particularly strong in physical retail betting shops.
10. THE REST
As far as the best of the rest are concerned: SuperSportBet is backed by the continent’s dominant sports broadcaster. And there’s 10bet, which pioneered crypto deposits locally. Each is relatively new, so building market share without yet cracking SA’s 10 biggest sports betting sites outright (during the period in question). Either could break into the top tier within the next year or two …
