The Las Vegas Raiders breathed heavily involving the 2026 future of Ashton Jeanty. The running back Jeanty left Sunday’s practice in scary fashion with a concerning leg injury. Raider Nation and the franchise began to brace for the worst.

But now the Raiders and fans of the Silver and Black can breathe easy. ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter provided this update.

“Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty, who had to be helped off the practice field today, is believed to have sprained his ankle, sources tell (NFL Network insider) Ian Rapoport and me,” Schefter posted on X, formerly Twitter, late Sunday evening.

So Jeanty doesn’t have a season-ending injury. But Schefter added one more update.

“The Raiders still are unsure how long he will be out. But it is not considered a long-term injury and the organization is breathing a sigh of relief tonight. Raiders declined comment on Jeanty’s injury,” Schefter added.

Jeanty injured himself diving for a pass, per multiple reports. He crashed into teammate Darien Porter and stayed down for a lengthy. Jeanty needed the assistance of team trainers to help him off the field, with the report he had trouble putting weight on his right foot.

Thoughts about who could fill for Jeanty surfaced immediately. Including elevating NFL Preseason star Mike Washington Jr. to RB1 in place of Jeanty. Looks like that could still be on the table for rookie head coach Mike Washington Jr. for the early portion of the regular season.

But now the Raiders can collect their breath, knowing their 2025 first rounder won’t miss the ’26 campaign. Jeanty still earns a chance to tote the rock down the road.
