Three Minor Sisters Die Under Suspicious Circumstances, Bodies Exhumed In MP's Chhatarpur

BHOPAL/CHHATARPUR (Madhya Pradesh): Three minor girls from the same family died under suspicious circumstances in Pipora Khurd village of Chhatarpur, triggering shock and grief in the village, said Matguwan police on Friday.

Police have launched an investigation after the bodies, which had already been buried following the last rites, were exhumed for post-mortem examination.
According to police, the deceased have been identified as 9-year-old Poonam Kushwaha, 5-year-old Manisha Kushwaha and 9-month-old Chahat Kushwaha, all daughters of Balmukund Kushwaha.
According to preliminary information, the girls had eaten potato and brinjal curry at night. Their health reportedly deteriorated soon afterwards, following which family members rushed them to a hospital. All three were declared dead.
Following information about the deaths, administrative and police teams reached the village. SDM Lalan Bagri, tehsildar Durgesh Tiwari, Ishanagar station in-charge Ripudaman Singh and Matguwan station in-charge Ankur Chaubey, along with police personnel, were present during the exhumation.
TI Chaubey said that police have seized food ingredients and other items from the spot and sent them for forensic examination. The bodies will undergo post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.
Officials are investigating whether the deaths were linked to food poisoning or another cause. TI Chaubey further said that the actual circumstances would become clear only after the post-mortem and forensic reports.
