Analyst makes bold claim about playing QB for the Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings have made it a point to be a team that builds around their quarterback in recent years. From the coaching staff to the roster, this franchise is designed to make it so being a quarterback is an easier task than in other places in the NFL.

As such, the lack of results out of J.J. McCarthy since he took over as quarterback has not been ideal. Young quarterbacks take some time to adjust, but the lack of anything led to the team bringing in Kyler Murray. This week, ESPN's Dan Orlovsky made a bold statement while not naming McCarthy or Murray, but simply saying the results need to come when you play quarterback for the Vikings.
Orlovsky stated, "I think it's the easiest place to play a quarterback in the NFC outside of the Los Angeles Rams. Hmm. You could have a top ten offensive line. You'll have a top 10 run game. I think you have one of the most skilled pass-catching groups in the NFL. . . add in T.J. Hockenson, then you'll have a top five defense. You just can't be bad."

For all the reasons that Orlovsky listed, that is why there is no excuse anymore for Kyler Murray coming into 2026. When he was with Arizona, there were several things holding him back. Now in Minnesota, all those things are fixed, and it could be an end-all, be-all year for the former Heisman Trophy winner.
