Karabo Mathang-Tshabuse, who represents several Betway Premiership players, made the revelation during an appearance on Sports Night Amplified with Andile Ncube on Metro FM.
KARABO MATHANG-TSHABUSE REVEALS R4 000 DEAL
Mathang-Tshabuse was asked whether players in the Betway Premiership still earn less than R10 000 per month. She confirmed that this remains the reality for some players. She revealed that she had recently seen a contract worth just R4 000.

“Absolutely they are. Absolutely they are,” Mathang-Tshabuse said on Metro FM.
“As recently as last month, I saw a contract for R4,000. And the worrying thing, Andile, is that they want to call that a professional player.”
The agent’s comments highlight the financial disparity within the Betway Premiership. While some players earn salaries comparable to top professionals, others struggle on modest contracts despite competing in the country’s premier division.
Mathang-Tshabuse also questioned whether such players should be considered professionals based on their earnings.
BETWAY PREMIERSHIP HAS R800 000 EARNERS
Ncube then asked Mathang-Tshabuse about the other end of the salary scale and whether players in the Betway Premiership have earned R500 000 or more per month.
“Absolutely, yes,” she responded.
The agent revealed that some of the biggest contracts she has worked on have been worth close to R800 000 per month. “The biggest ones I’ve done now are close to R800,000 a month,” she said.
Mathang-Tshabuse clarified that those figures relate to contracts from before the COVID-19 pandemic, when clubs were operating under different financial conditions.
Her current client list includes players at Betway Premiership clubs Sekhukhune United, Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs.
Among them are Vuyo Letlapa, Lehlohonolo Mojela, Bright Ndlovu, Thabang Mahlangu and Malekgene Mampuru at Sekhukhune, while Monnapule Saleng and Cassius Mailula are among her Sundowns clients.
She also represents Thabo Moloisane and Takalani Mazhamba of Chiefs, as well as Yusuf Maart, who plays for SV Ried.
The revelations underline the stark financial divide that continues to exist within professional South African football.
