Burnley manager Nicky Hayen has told Zian Flemming he should stay with the Clarets despite being linked with a possible Premier League move.

Coventry, Leeds and Brentford are reportedly interested in Flemming, who scored two late goals to salvage a point against West Ham in the Championship on Sunday.

Hayen said it would now be harder to hang on to the 28-year-old Dutch striker, who joined Burnley from Millwall for £7m last summer.

"It didn't help that he scored two times!" joked Hayen.

"No, I'm really pleased with his performance and also the way he scores the penalty.

"He scored our second goal too and, of course, Zian is really important, not only with his goals, but also for the way he plays for us.

"I've said the way we play suits him so maybe it's the best choice for him to stay because he can be even more important than before and maybe wait for six-and-a-half months for the winter break because it can change every time.

"I'm aware of that, but I think he enjoys himself and that's the most important thing at the moment."

Burnley have signed five players so far during the summer transfer window, including Manchester City loanee Max Alleyne, who shone on his debut against West Ham, and Hayen says they are trying to land more.

"You know my answer," he said when asked if there would be more signings. "We're working hard behind the scenes, we're busy. I can repeat this every single time."
