Advanced Manufacturing, Future Skills and Competitive MSMEs Key to Gujarat’s Growth: Advani

Gujarat’s strong industrial base, entrepreneurial ecosystem and infrastructure position it as a key growth engine for India’s next phase of industrial expansion, said Mr Vir S Advani, Chairman, CII Western Region and Chairman & Managing Director, Blue Star Ltd. Addressing a CII Media Roundtable in Ahmedabad, Mr Advani said competitiveness, ease of doing business, advanced manufacturing, future skills, technology and resilient supply chains would be central to Gujarat’s next growth cycle.
“Gujarat’s scale and capabilities provide a strong foundation for the next phase of growth. The opportunity is to further strengthen competitiveness and set a benchmark for industry-led growth in India,” Mr Advani said.

Mr Advani highlighted regulatory simplification, single-window clearances, faster environmental approvals and resolving inverted duty structures as key areas for strengthening the business environment.
Gujarat is witnessing growing opportunities across semiconductors, defence and aerospace, green hydrogen, renewable energy and advanced manufacturing, Mr Advani said.
“For investments to come in, what is required is skilled talent, competitive MSMEs, technology, innovation, infrastructure and resilient supply chains. Gujarat is India’s industrial powerhouse and a strong platform for the next generation of growth,” he said. He added that AI, robotics, smart factories, digital supply chains and sustainable manufacturing would increasingly shape industrial competitiveness.
Future-ready talent and competitive MSMEs will be central to Gujarat’s industrial growth, Mr Advani said. CII is working through skill centres in Sanand, Rajkot and Vadodara to align training with industry requirements.
CII is also supporting MSMEs through export-readiness programmes, buyer-seller meets, Industry 4.0 adoption and quality improvement initiatives, helping strengthen their integration into domestic and global value chains.
“Gujarat’s next growth phase will bring together large industry, MSMEs, start-ups and global players to build competitive ecosystems and scale new opportunities,” he said. He also mentioned that CII will support the Government of Gujarat for the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit in January 2027.
CII’s engagement in Gujarat spans policy advocacy, investment facilitation, manufacturing, exports, renewable energy, logistics, skills and MSME development. In July, CII Gujarat hosted Investopia Global – Ahmedabad Edition, strengthening economic engagement between Gujarat and the UAE.
Mr Advani said CII remains committed to supporting Gujarat’s trillion-dollar economy ambition, with a focus on advanced manufacturing, ease of doing business, scaling up businesses, MSME competitiveness, future skills, green growth and balanced regional development.
“Our role is to bring the collective strength of industry to government, co-create solutions and translate priorities into measurable outcomes. This partnership will accelerate Gujarat’s next phase of growth and strengthen its contribution to India’s economic journey,” he said.
