Kortney Sowers, Adena
Sowers has never shied away from putting in the work necessary to be at her absolute best. Over the past two seasons, the setter has aided her Warriors to a 49-6 mark alongside two SVC titles. She enters her senior year with 908 career assists, looking for the always-special 1,000th.
Kylee Dunn, Southeastern
It cannot be fun to have to look across the net and see Dunn, who has made a habit of terrorizing opposing defenses. Her 313 kills last season was, by far, a team-high and gave her a total of 609. The Panthers will look her way often. Number 1,000 certainly isn’t out of reach.
Kinzli Batson, Unioto
Batson enjoyed a breakout season last fall and there’s no reason to believe she won’t be even better as a junior. Her 761 assists gave her 902 in her career while she helped the Shermans go 18-5 overall alongside an 11-3 mark in SVC play. She should reach 1,000 assists rather early.
Kerrigan Hill, Zane Trace
In each of her first two seasons, Hill has been a model of consistency. After tallying 396 digs as a freshman, she added 333 more last fall, giving her a total of 729. With her 1,000th career dig in reach, she’ll be one of the leaders of a team that should have conference title aspirations.
Kimmy Dalton, Adena
There's a good reason why Dalton is a two-time SVC Defensive Player of the Year. She seems to be constantly everywhere. Her never-say-die style of play has allowed her to collect 1,051 digs. The senior aims to lead Adena to yet another regional appearance with 1,500 digs in sight.
Evelyn Hamman, Chillicothe
With a fierce swing and an uncanny ability to fool would-be defenders at the net, Hamman has transformed into an all-out star over the past three seasons. She’s well in reach of 1,500 career kills after posting a whopping 436 of them as a junior. She enters her senior year with 1,039.
Taryn Gillott, Waverly
While the Tigers enjoyed an 18-win season last fall — the most since 2019 — Gillott continued to progress into an elite setter. Her 470 assists upped her career total to 911. Now, just 89 away from 1,000, she’ll hope to help Waverly take an even larger step forward as a program.
BONUS
Adena coach Laura Smith already has plenty of milestones under legendary belt. The Warriors’ win over Union Local in a Division V regional semifinal last season was one of them. It was the 864th of her career, which tied East Liverpool’s Dan McKinstry for the most in OHSAA history. She enters this fall with a career coaching record of 864-199, a win percentage of 81.3.
