New England Patriots wide receiver Kayshon Boutte has already come out and suggested that he wants to be traded. Reports have indicated in the past that he's even requested a trade, though the Patriots haven't acted on that just yet.
The young man out of LSU has put together a nice career for himself as a sixth-round pick of the 2023 NFL draft, though he seemingly wants a much bigger role in the Patriots' offense. With A.J. Brown now in New England, the chances of that happening seem slimmer than ever.
Speaking to reporters during training camp about his focus and whether he wants to stay in New England, Boutte didn't have much to say, which could be a red flag.
"It's whatever's best for me," Boutte told reporters, H/T SI. "Like I said, whether it's here or somewhere else, I gotta do what's best for me."
"I can't really say it today, you kinda gotta see how things play out," Boutte said. "So like I say, taking it day by day, I'm not a future teller, so I couldn't tell you."
The Patriots probably don't want to move on from him for a late-round draft pick, as he brings more value to them than, let's say, a fourth-round pick would.
Coming off a season in which he posted 551 yards and six touchdowns, he was a decent player in this offense. Unfortunately, it looks like he wants a bigger role, which could come at the expense of New England if it has to trade him and he makes this bigger than it has to be.
