The Toronto Blue Jays are not having a great 2026 season. They're still within striking distance of the postseason, but it's not been a good year for Toronto overall, especially coming off a World Series appearance.

But, looking towards the 2026-2027 MLB offseason, the Blue Jays will have the chance to upgrade this roster even further after adding Jose Soriano at this year's deadline. But, even with Soriano's addition, more help in the rotation couldn't hurt.
Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report is predicting that, amid such a need, the Blue Jays will sign Baltimore Orioles All-Star left-handed starter Trevor Rogers to a mammoth four-year, $114 million contract that is very intriguing for a few reasons.

"Toronto does have Dylan Cease, Trey Yesavage, and Jose Soriano as staples for next year's rotation, but it does have holes to fill," Miller writes. "Prediction: 4 years, $114M (fourth year is a $30M club option) with Toronto Blue Jays."
This prediction from Miller is a very intriguing one for a few reasons. One of which is how much money they'd be spending on Rogers a year after splurging on Cease and Cody Ponce.
With Ponce, Jose Berrios, and Spencer Arrighetti under club control through 2027, the Blue Jays wouldn't be adding Rogers due to a major need in the rotation, but rather to ensure they don't have to rely on a starter's return from injury.
This season, Rogers has a 4.20 ERA with a 7-7 record for the Orioles, but last year, he was incredible in 18 starts. He had a 1.81 ERA and posted 5.3 bWAR for an incredible season that would be an incredible addition for the Blue Jays' rotation.

But his 4.20 ERA this season and overall inconsistencies are reasons to worry. The risk might be worth taking, as his ceiling is a dominant left-hander who'd be a great complement to their righty-heavy rotation.
While he'd be a nice fit in the rotation as one of their best left-handers, adding him when the rotation has some strong depth and a good 1-2-3 at a $114M price tag would be very expensive.
It's nearly $30 million per-year, which is what they're paying Cease every season to be their ace. But, like how Cease has broken out with Toronto, maybe Rogers could find his groove, pitching closer to his 1.81 ERA from 2025 than his 4.20 ERA from 2026.
Miller's prediction would make for a fascinating offseason signing for the Blue Jays, as a rotation with Cease, Yesavage, Soriano, and Rogers, plus any of their other options, would make for one of the best rotations in baseball. Albeit a very expensive one.
