Ahead of the game, coach Luciano Spalletti was joined by Andrea Cambiaso for the pre-match press duties.
Below is what they had to say at Friday’s press conference.
ANDREA CAMBIASO
“The game tomorrow is a great fixture, and playing Inter is always a good game. These games are always the best to play in. We’re looking forward to it, and it’s still Juventus vs Inter even in pre-season, so you can’t hold anything back. We’ll give our all and we’ll see tomorrow how things go.
“Spending time together is fundamental, and the more we focus on work, the more our game on the pitch aligns with the coach’s ideas. It’s great working with him, and it’s great to have had the chance to work with him from the beginning of the season, because it allows you to focus on the details, on every aspect that helps you perform to your best on the pitch.
“We’re working well, despite all the travel and commitments, we’re really excited about what we’re doing. I like playing in any position, it’s not a problem if I have a more attacking or more defensive role, I don’t have any problems. I know I have to contribute in all areas, wherever I’m selected to play.
“From day one, the coach has told us repeatedly that what we did last year wasn’t enough, and we always have to remember that so we can push harder. It was a season to forget in terms of results, but it gave us things to carry with us, take responsibility for, and for us to use to push ourselves to reach a higher level.”
LUCIANO SPALLETTI
“Games like tomorrow’s are ones where you can see the team’s mentality. You can tell if we’re heading in the right direction or not. Inter are a tough team to face, just like Chelsea were, so we’ll need to be a team for the whole game, be clear about our approach and attitude and not give them any edge. We need to stay united, as a group.
“When choosing a starting XI, we’ll need to consider not just training, but the travel, time zones, and all the rest. For that, I need to thank the Club for the extraordinary work they’ve done in organising all of this.
“As for [Kenan] Yildiz, I have to take all of the above into account. Tomorrow morning we’ll discuss who needs to rest and who doesn’t, so I’d rather wait until just before kick-off to say whether or not he’ll start. The plan is for him to play one half.
“We’ve added players who are capable of scoring goals, and I’m sure that they’ll perform well. Our season will be defined by playing on Thursdays and Sundays, so it’s unlikely we’ll always have the same XI out there, because the Europa League complicates the schedule, which will be even more packed now. We have a lot of options at our disposal.”
