Ahead of the matchup, Angels manager Kurt Suzuki made a lineup change involving star outfielder Mike Trout, who started the previous two games in center field.

Through the first two games of the series, Trout has gone 1-for-8 with five strikeouts.

Angels Announce Trout Change

The Angels have routinely given Trout a turn at designated hitter after he starts two consecutive games on defense, and Suzuki is sticking with that plan.

On Wednesday, Trout will bat second as the designated hitter, while Wade Meckler will start in left field, Jose Siri in center and Josh Lowe in right.

Here’s the full Angels lineup:

Trout’s 2026 Season

Trout is in his 16th MLB season with the Angels, and while the team sits at 43-71 and firmly out of both the division and playoff races, he’s put together a solid 2026 campaign and, for the most part, has stayed healthy.

Across 95 games and 343 at-bats, Trout is batting .242 with 83 hits, 18 home runs, 40 RBIs and eight stolen bases.

Trout Speaks on Angels Future

After the Angels sold at the trade deadline earlier this week, reporters asked Trout whether those moves changed his outlook on his future with the organization, as he’s under contract through the 2030 season.

“Nah, it hasn’t changed anything,” Trout said.

However, Trout made it clear that as an organization they need look themselves in the mirror and try and fix what is continuously going wrong.

“We gotta look at ourselves in the mirror,” he added. “We’re not where we want to be. I think the best step in the best direction to turn things around is to do what we did.”
