Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker has weighed in on one of basketball’s most popular debates, revealing his all-time NBA starting lineup. In a video posted to TikTok by chickenwrapcharge, Booker selected Stephen Curry, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Shaquille O’Neal as his all-time starting five.

The group is notably Lakers-heavy, with Bryant, James and O’Neal all spending championship-winning portions of their careers in Los Angeles. Booker’s selections also reflect many of the players who have shaped his own NBA journey. He was teammates with Durant, and the two also played alongside James and Curry while helping Team USA capture gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

His admiration for Bryant, however, dates back much further. Although Booker grew up in Michigan as a Detroit Pistons fan during the early 2000s, he eventually became one of Bryant’s biggest admirers after entering the NBA.

“Growing up in Michigan, being a Pistons fan, we weren’t fans of Kobe. We played them in the Finals, we ended up beating them, and that was a big part of my childhood. Everybody respected him. You might not have liked him when he played, but you respected the mentality,” Booker said in an interview with Bryanna Sompayrac.

Booker said his perspective changed even more after he entered the league during Bryant’s final NBA season.

“Kobe’s last year was my first year in the NBA. He left me with a lot of great words. People always told me, ‘He wasn’t so open to everybody.’ I think I was one of the very few that he invited me to Gigi’s basketball tournament out here in Arizona to spend time with the girls… Just being around him, he was super punctual, and he worked the hardest out of everybody.”
