Giants’ Jaxson Dart gushes over Malik Nabers after encouraging return

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. — Not only did Giants star wide receiver Malik Nabers not start training camp on the physically unable to perform list, but he also looked crisp on Day 1, albeit in limited action.

After the Giants held their first camp practice on Wednesday, coach John Harbaugh said Nabers’ return to full participation in practice is not imminent.
Still, given how smooth Nabers looked while running routes (against no defense) and going through positional drills on Wednesday, Giants fans are dreaming about him being ready for Week 1.
Nabers is recovering from last season’s torn ACL — an injury that also resulted in a full meniscus repair and then a second surgery this offseason to clean up scar tissue. Those complicating factors seemingly cast doubt on his Week 1 status entering training camp.
Then Nabers did more in Wednesday’s first practice than most observers likely expected. Remember, he didn’t practice at all in the spring.
After practice, quarterback Jaxson Dart raved about what he hopes Nabers can bring in 2026 — Nabers’ critically important third season, when the Giants hope he can finally lift them out of years-long misery.
“He definitely has a presence about him,” Dart said. “There’s an aura that he has on the field that is exhilarating. It makes me happy. It makes everybody happy just to see him out there.
“He’s doing a great job with how he’s attacking his recovery. I’ve got all the confidence in the world in him and his approach to the game. I just think it’s a really good feeling for him to just be out there with the team and to be involved.”
As for that aura, Dart said, “It’s Leek. Every time he’s on the field, everybody knows where he’s at.”
Nabers got hurt midway through Dart’s first start last year. Dart can’t wait to see Nabers get more extended action in 2026.
“He brings a completely different element to an offense,” Dart said. “So I’m really looking forward to the future, getting him back healthy, because I think the sky is the limit for what we can do. There are not many flaws that show up in his game. I think that he’s really good at everything.
“He’s just a dog. He’s an ultimate competitor in everything that he does. He’s obsessed with competition. He wants to win. He wants to be the best. Those are guys that you want to be around.”
