DERICK HOUGAARD SPARKS CONCERN
On his Facebook account, Derick Hougaard shared his first post since 2023.
But instead of a catch-up about what has been happening in his life, the former Springbok sparked concern with his words.
He shared: “I am in big trouble. Impossible maybe. Just a miracle will work. What to do. And who these days will just help you for the fact of just helping. In numbers, anything is possible”.
He added, “I just pray for God’s favour over my life. I am just looking for a new beginning and a challenge. And I thought maybe you could help. This is really me posting”.
In a follow-up post, Derick added that he had stepped away from Facebook for the sake of privacy. However, he was now looking for an “angel” who could come to his assistance
He added, “ If only I could sort out the crisis that is paralysing me. But believe Jesus is going to come through for me and send someone over my way that can help”.
In the comment section, Derick Hougaard’s followers were concerned that he had returned to his old habits. Others claimed that the page had been hacked

In the years since hanging up his boots in 2015, Derick Hougaard has made headlines for all the wrong reasons. This includes his self-confessed addiction to prescription pills, heavy drinking, and his high-profile failed romances.
In 2023, he spent several weeks in a coma after contracting respiratory pneumonia. The retired rugby player was found unresponsive in his home by his then-girlfriend, singer Nadine.
According to reports, Derick Hougaard then checked into a Gauteng psychiatric hospital over his substance addiction. The former Springbok had been living in controversial diamond dealer Louis Liebenberg’s home in an attempt to stay clean.
However, he reportedly relapsed, forcing his family to take drastic measures.
