Clarendon High School mourns death of Grade 12 learner Kristen Potter

The Clarendon High School for Girls community is mourning the loss of Grade 12 learner Kristen Potter, who passed away following a brief illness.
The Eastern Cape school paid tribute to Potter, remembering her as a kind, compassionate and dedicated young woman whose impact extended well beyond the classroom.

Beloved member of the Clarendon community
In a statement, the school expressed its deep sadness at the passing of one of its senior learners.
“It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Kristen Potter, one of our Grade 12 learners, following a brief illness.”
Clarendon described Potter as a treasured member of its close-knit school community, saying her memory would remain an enduring part of the school’s legacy.
“Kristen was a cherished part of the Clarendon sisterhood and will be remembered for the impact she made on those around her.”
Passion for squash
Potter was also recognised for her commitment to sport, particularly squash, where she proudly represented the school.
The school praised her dedication and the pride with which she wore Clarendon’s colours on the squash court.
“As a school community, we mourn the loss of one of our own. Kristen’s place in the Clarendon family will remain forever,” the school said.
A legacy of kindness and compassion
In a separate tribute, Clarendon remembered Potter as someone admired for her warmth, quiet strength and caring nature.
“Kristen was admired for her kindness, warmth and quiet strength.”
The school said she would be remembered not only for her sporting achievements, but also for the friendships she built and the positive influence she had on classmates and teachers.
