Bryson DeChambeau gives an honest reflection on his season after missing three major cuts

The two-time US Open winner entered The Open Championship looking to avoid becoming the first multiple-time major winner under 40 to miss all four major cuts in a single season. He did so, finishing T14, but it only papered over what has been a poor year at the biggest events.
It’s been slightly better on LIV, where DeChambeau has won twice this season, but Jon Rahm is still threatening to run away with the individual title, winning for the third straight season. DeChambeau may be LIV’s biggest star, but Rahm is clearly LIV’s best player.
With only a few events left in the LIV schedule, DeChambeau gave an honest reflection on his season as a whole at LIV UK.

DeChambeau has not won this much on LIV since his debut season in 2023. While he remains some way off the top of the individual standings, DeChambeau says that 2026 has actually been his best year on the tour.
Speaking after his second round at LIV UK, where he is in contention, DeChambeau said, “It’s funny, I feel like I’ve had my best year out here this year, and for whatever reason, I feel like I’ve left a lot out there, which is quite interesting to me, but very grateful for having a great year out here.
“Jon’s played some great golf. I don’t know where he is. I don’t know where he finished, but I’m sure he’s going to be a force to be reckoned with the next couple of days and in New Jersey as well, finishing out the season.”
Despite having a disastrous year at the majors, DeChambeau says his game is still in a great place.
He continued, “I don’t really know what to say. I feel like this year I was ready to go. I felt ready to go this year. It didn’t work out that way in the majors. I feel really comfortable with my game, as comfortable as I felt in a long time.
“I feel pretty close to Greenbrier, the way I was playing the past couple days. Just a couple little tweaks here and there with the driver and 3-wood, and I feel like I’m right there. I’m knocking on that door.
“As it relates to the season, I played great. I’m happy that — my first year out here, I was struggling quite a bit. I turned it around obviously, later in that year in ’23. In ’22 I wasn’t really doing that great either. It’s just one of those things I feel like I’ve progressed and gotten better as a golfer in different conditions.
“It’s taken me a little bit. I wasn’t necessarily an international golfer coming out in the professional ranks. I feel like I’ve become more of a complete golfer in that regard. So you’re still always learning.”
Bryson DeChambeau is having his worst statistical season in three years
DeChambeau might say he’s feeling comfortable out there, but numbers say this is the worst he’s played across the board since 2023.
His total Strokes Gained average is +1.16 in 2026, which is significantly lower than his last two seasons. He’s worse in every single statistical category this year compared to last, and he’s only fractionally better with his iron play than he was in 2024.
2023 would have been a much better season for DeChambeau too, but that year he struggled immensely with his putting. He’s worked hard to correct that, but he’s seen a decline in every other area of his game.
Winning LIV UK this week would make this year the most successful of his LIV career, but the numbers tell us his game is not where it was last year when he was challenging Rory McIlroy at The Masters.
