He carded an 11-under-par 61 with 10 birdies, an eagle and one bogey.
The record round is good timing for the 27-year-old from Raymond.
Madsen, who turned pro in 2022 after playing men's golf at Florida Gulf Coast and Winona State, is set to defend his win in the Marcus Construction Pro-Am at 1 p.m. Monday at Eagle Creek Golf Club.
His six-under 66 tied Jack Hiemenz's tally for first, followed by Isaac Nelson's five-under 67. Nelson, the Head Golf Professional at Little Crow Country Club since 2018, will be in contention for a top finish.
"Brady has been on fire lately," said Greg Snow, a PGA Professional who is the Director of Golf and General Manager at Eagle Creek Golf Club. "He is one of the top names to win this."
More than 20 of the top PGA Professionals and their amateur teams from Minnesota and guest players from the PGA and LPGA Tours compete in the Marcus Construction Pro-Am, according to Eagle Creek Golf Club co-owner Chad Pendill.
Headline golfers among the 27-foursome field are married couple Brittany Lincicome and Dewald Gouws as well as D.A. Points.
Lincicome, a semi-retired LPGA Tour player from St. Petersburg, Florida, has eight tour wins, including two majors. She played on six U.S. Solheim teams and was an assistant coach for the team in 2024.
Gouws, from Westonaria, South Africa, was the runner-up in the 2008 RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship.
Lincicome and Gouws, who are making their second Marcus Construction Pro-Am appearance, have two daughters: Emery and Sophia.
Points, from Pekin, Illinois, has three PGA Tour wins and is back at the Pro-Am for the third time.
He is one of eight members who were named to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2026, which includes Ayo Dosunmu of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Those three will not participate in the purse payouts.
"Here's the best part," Snow said. "They asked to come back."
Eagle Creek is kicking off the festivities with a 15-minute fireworks show, produced by CS Pyrotechnics of Richmond, on Saturday at Willmar Lake. The public can watch from Robbins Island. If there is inclement weather, Sunday will serve as the alternate date.
Messerli — Kramer Law Firm, Yamaha Golf Cars and Viking Coca-Cola are other sponsors for the Marcus Construction Pro-Am.
Pros will play for a $6,600 total purse, including a $1,400 winner check. Amateur and teams are competing for over $9,000 in total payouts.
Some proceeds will also go to the Willmar Junior Golf Foundation.
"I can't even tell you how much work Chad (Pendill) puts into this and how he's driven this event even further than I ever expected," Snow said. "It started off six years ago as a fundraiser for the Willmar Junior Golf Foundation and he has turned it into this.
"Our members and even our guests, they just love it."
