The LSU Tigers football season is inching closer, now down to double digits on the countdown clock. Kickoff against the Clemson Tigers is now just 45 days away.
As we continue to look back at the history of the Bayou Bandits to celebrate and prepare heading into the first game, there is also the matter of getting to know the current-day players.

Here is a look at the past and present of No. 45 at LSU:
No. 45 - PK Sean PerretPerret is not going to take over as the team's starting kicker next season, but he is a walk-on with enough potential in his background to eventually compete. At worst, he won't be a bad backup option.
The Tigers also brought in transfer sophomore kicker Scott Starzyk, who is expected to start after a great year with the Arkansas Razorbacks, going 14-of-18. He has more in-game experience, at least.
Perret was a high-profile kid from the city. He graduated from Catholic in Baton Rouge, helping lead them to a state championship as a kicker in 2023. He was a point-after machine and had a long of 45 in high school. He was also a punter in high school. As a prospect, he was rated a 4.5-star. If he wanted to play, he could find time somewhere.
He seems, at least, like a name to remember for the future.
Highlighting A Former Player Who Wore No. 45DE Tashawn Bower (2013-2016)
Bower was a rotational player at LSU and has now parlayed that into a long career in professional football. He might not have been a star, but he has 12 TFLs and 5.5 sacks during his career, which counts for something.
He was a big-time recruit and a great athlete, so that caught NFL teams' attention. He went undrafted, but signed with the Minnesota Vikings as a UDFA. He lasted in that league for five seasons, until 2022. Now he's in the UFL, with the Dallas Renegades.
Another Connection To 452027 EDGE Commit Chris Whitehead Ranked No. 45 Nationally
The Tigers have been lights out at recruiting high-end defensive line talent to start Lane Kiffin's tenure. Whitehead is next in line. He's the No. 45-ranked player nationally on the 247Sports composite rankings. He's their No. 5 EDGE and the top player out of Virginia. There is debate over whether Whitehead or KJ Green is LSU's best pass-rushing prospect.
